Sermon ❯

Pastor Ron Sunday Service December 31

Primary Text: Psalm 46; Ephesians 5:10-21

Although we all experience spiritual barraness of times, this is not the norm, for God deserves to be near his people with help and comfort. This song expresses trust and confidence in God during a time of instability and insecurity. The power and ability to face the uncertainties universities of life are found in God. “Refuge” pictures a shelter from danger, indicating that God is our true security in the storms of life. “Strength” refers to his mate when battling our foes. The end result is that he is a “very present help in trouble.” God is available to his people and wants us to call upon him for help in any time of need. He is sufficient for any situation and never leaves our side. Plus, we need not fear.

God’s “river,” a type of the Holy Spirit,” is the continual flow of his grace, glory and power in the midst of his faithful people. This pure life-giving river flows from God the father, God the son and guard the Holy Spirit. It’s flows from the throne of God and constantly refreshes believers.

In the 5th chapter of Ephesians, the exhortation is to walk circumspectly or carefully and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. He further encourages to redeem the time because of the evil day in which we live and most of all, to be filled with the Spirit. This is to under the control of the Holy Spirit.
